Can Online Social networking cause dangerous security and privacy issues, or is it a panacea for dealmakers and job hunters. I have friends on both side of this issue, both trying to influence me to see their point of view. One associate of mine insists on the importance of having a profile on LinkedIn & Facebook. “Soon you wont see paper resumes or get a business card, everything will be done via Facebook or other sites”. Non-web 2.0 savvy folks will have a tough time getting employment in the future.
“But your every move is been tracked and recorded”, my paranoid friends tells me. The police already use websites like MySpace to find people and they can get your Google search records (which is admissible in court). But why worry about this, if not doing anything illegal? Maybe I’m being naïve?
Who is right? Like all technology, Online social networking is a double edged sword (i.e. fire can cook your food and it can burn down your house).

well, you’re right…
but somehow there’s an advantage in social networking especially those people who have businesses online. And also it depends on how you use your networking site and how you interact with the users.
I liked your last paragraph, bcos fire can cook food as well as burn your house down, exactly the same way social networking should be in a controlled manner, it should not be the the way for the terrorist or phantom to enter into your network. It can cause you serious problems, if you dont use wisely….
