Why isn’t the Obama assassination attempt on the news?

I was on vacation in Central America for a couple of weeks. The big news on every station was the assassination attempt on Obama. But what was even more bizarre, to me, was what happened when I returned to the U.S. Whenever I brought the subject up in conversation, no one heard about it! I would really love some feed-back on this. (Was there any news coverage about this? or does no one watch the news anymore?)

When I did a search online about it, there seemed to be plenty of info. Such as four guys being arrested, they said the may be part of some white supremacist group, and they planned to shoot Obama while he was giving a speech on live T.V. Imagine what kind of spectacle this would have been if it was carried out! (The only thing comparable would be the Kennedy assassination.)
